NordicTrack SpaceSaver SE9i Elliptical Trainer Features

14″ Smart HD Touchscreen— The SpaceSaver SE9i comes with a a 14” touch screen full color display. You get graphically pleasing feedback with your stats. And the browser fully interacts with iFit (See Below).

NordicTrack SpaceSaver SE9i Console and DisplayRear Drive Design — The both elliptical trainers utilize a rear drive design on is based on a patent from Precor, which builds some of the best commercial grade elliptical trainer on the planet. NordicTrack leases the patent. The advantages of the rear drive design are…

  1. Less moving parts that can cause potential service issues.
  2. The rear drive design delivers a more ergonomic elliptical path that closer resembles a natural stride.
  3. More stable and solid feel.

Power Incline — This feature is found on most elliptical trainers, however, with a rear drive design you tend to maintain a true elliptical motion as it is raised. Most front drive machines warp the motion when the incline is raised.

Snap Assembly — Having done our share of assembling fitness equipment, we can attest that it is often a pain and helps if there are two people. The NordicTrack SpaceSaver SE9i requires three simple steps to assemble, which means you are not pulling out your hair trying to figure out the assembly manual and where all the parts go.

iFit Live iFit Ready— iFit  allows your elliptical trainer to communicate with the Internet.  Through iFit you can create progressive customized workouts with audio coaching, simulate running outside through Google Maps, and track your progress and your stats through your iFit account. This technology is only available on NordicTrack and ProForm machines, which are built by the same company. There is an additional cost for this feature.

Note:  At the time of this posting, this machine includes a FREE 30 day trial to iFit.

24 Workout Programs — There are 14 cardio burn programs and 10 performance programs, which is a generous selection in comparison to other brands and models of elliptical trainers.

Cooling Fan, Speakers and MP3 Input

Adjustable Oversized Cushioned Foot Pedals – These pedals allow you to adjust the angle to minimize foot lift. The extra large pedals give you

Folding Storage — The NordicTrack SpaceSaver SE9i elliptical trainer is designed to fold and stand upright for space saving storage.

NordicTrack SpaceSaver SE9i Elliptical Trainer Review

The SpaceSaver SE9i gives you the ergonomics of a Precor elliptical for a fraction of the price. In addition, you are the Android browser and iFit capability, which are only found on Icon Fitness products (Parent company of NordicTrack.). The engineering, design and technology make the SE9i a winning proposition.

To save about $800, you may also want to check out the SpaceSaver SE7i model.  It only has a 5″ back-lit display and a lower warranty, but that might be worth the price savings for you.

NordicTrack Space Saver SE9i Customer Review

Have been using this elliptical consistently for about a week now. Before this I had only used a health club elliptical. It is every bit as good as the one I used in the gym. Very smooth, very quite. I had it assembled in minutes. Also using iFit and have really enjoyed the maps. Have used preset maps and also created my own. I would definitely recommend this elliptical from my experience so far.

I live in an apartment on the 2nd floor, no rugs.
That being said, which elliptical would be quieter?
    I like 7 and also the se9i

If both would be noisy, please let me know.

I want to get an elliptical and have it fit in a 7 foot tall ceiling space. I’m 5’7. I love the options of a 3 in 1 with the FS7i. But from the measurements, I won’t have the height needed. Which model do you recommend?

      Hi Suzanne,
you would need to add 18″ approximately to your overall height to determine minimum ceiling height requirement. At 5’7″, if you add 18″ it puts you at 85″. So you may be able to get by with the SE9i or the FS7i Free strider.

After many comparison readings on the elliptical have a few questions. Have been using one at the gym which is commercial size but not happy there. How difficult would it be for a 71 yr old lady to assemble it who is not superwoman? I need the space saver due to a small apartment. Don’t feel I need all the features but suppose it’s sign of the new age. Do want heart rate monitor but find it a little confusing about foot length. Also need fixed grips along with the moving arms. Any recommendations? I am 5’3″ and 160 lbs. Will I get yrs of service with this model as I would like to use it everyday? Thanks

Hi Sheryl, nice to meet you. From what you have described to me, the NordicTrack SpaceSaver SE7i should work well for your needs. If you do not want to deal with assembly, when you “check out” they do offer an assembly option.
