nordictrack-audiostrider990pro-console24 Resistance Levels and 30 Workout Apps – This is an impressive offering of features to help you vary your workout.

15-40 Degree Power Incline Ramp – Adjusting the incline will modify the shape and size of your stride and target different lower body muscles. The stride can vary from 20-23″.  We like that this machine allows you to vary your workout so greatly.

Upper  Body Grips with In Handle Controls – Upper body grips help you target your entire body.  We like that you can put more focus on your arms if desired.  You can change the resistance and ramp incline easily using built in controls.

26 lb Flywheel – A heavier flywheel allows a smoother and more natural stride.

Adjustable Foot Pedals – Choose between three options so you have a comfortable heel-to-toe angle.  This feature helps prevent “toe numbness” common on many ellipticals.

An Impressive Number of Features for a Reasonable Price

nordictrack elite 12.7The NordicTrack Elite 12.7 elliptical trainer shares many of the same specs as the Elite 12.9.  It contains an impressive number of features for a reasonable price.  If you compare this machine to other $1,500 ellipticals, you will see the great value with this series of machines.  NordicTrack is able to offer more for less on their machines since they are part of the world’s largest manufacturing company, Icon Fitness.  Best of all, the NordicTrack Elite 12.7 is iFit enabled with HD video programs so you can get an engaging and effective cross-training workout.

NordicTrack Elite 12.7 Elliptical Trainer Features

nordictrack elite 12.7 consoleHD Video Workouts — Built in HD video workouts help to motivate and inspire you during your exercise routine.  A personal trainer coaches you during the program while sharing interesting facts about the landscape.  The incline and resistance will adjust to match the simulated terrain.

iFit Live — This interactive training program will help you get more out of your workouts.  Exercise with a new workout every day, track your progress, replicate real-life training routes with Google Maps, and customize your workout to reach your fitness goals.  Be aware that this program does require an additional paid subscription to access.

0-20 Degree Incline — This incline lets you get an intense cardio workout that exceeds the typical 15 degree max on most other ellipticals.  The stride length will automatically adjust between 20″ and 22″.

32 lb. Flywheel — A heavier flywheel like this will contribute to a more natural elliptical motion.  The cheaper models have lighter flywheels that deliver a choppy and uncomfortable stride.

Upper Body Grips — These soft touch upper-body workout arms help provide better calorie-burning results.

35 Built-in Workouts — This is a nice variety of programs that help target calorie-burning, incline, or intensity goals.

Adjustable Foot Pedals — Customize your toe-to-heel angle so you can maximize your muscle toning while maintaining great traction control.  Best of all, these pedals help you avoid toe numbness that often occurs on ellipticals..

Sound System with MP3 Speakers — 2-inch speakers will pump out your favorite tunes while you workout!

375 lb. User Weight Limit — This is a bit high, so we would actually suggest a limit of only 275 lbs.

Warranty — The NordicTrack Elite 12.7 comes with a lifetime warranty on the frame, 5 years on parts, and 2 years on labor.

Front Drive vs. Rear Drive Elliptical — The NordicTrack Elite 12.7 is a front drive elliptical.  You may be wondering about the differences between front and rear-drive machines.  Which is better?  A rear drive machine will give you a slightly smoother motion.  A front drive elliptical has three benefits: 1) They are more compact by about a foot.  2) They are easier to mount and dismount since you don’t have to step over the rear drive mechanism.  3) The pedals are closer together which places less stress on your hips.

Our Review – NordicTrack Elite 12.7 Elliptical Trainer

The NordicTrack 12.7 is a nice machine with a smooth and natural elliptical stride.  We especially like that it is iFit Live compatible, has adjustable foot pedals, 35 built-in programs, and HD Video workouts.  It also has an impressive warranty that can give you confidence in your purchase.  If you are looking for a slightly different option, you may also consider the NordicTrack Elite 12.9, which is the sister machine.

NordicTrack E 9.9 Elliptical Trainer ReviewThe NordicTrack E 11.9 elliptical trainer is one of 4 front drive ellipticals that the company offers. The E 11.9 is typically priced at $999. It comes with some impressive features for the money.

And if you were to compare it to other $999 ellipticals you will find that the NordicTrack E 11.9 probably has a better warranty, heavier flywheel, unique interactive programming, and adjustable foot pedals.

NordicTrack E 11.9 Elliptical Trainer Features…

iFit Live Compatible—  In conjunction with the ability to incline and decline, the NordicTrack E 11.9 is compatible with iFit Live.  There are two features to iFit Live.  First, you can trace routes on Google Maps or pick a popular route from the iFit Live library (trails in national parks, cityscapes, etc.), and the NordicTrack E 11.9 will simulate the terrain with the incline/decline feature.  Through the color display you can visualize your progress through Google Maps with either a street, satellite or earth view.

In addition, you can get customized workout programs.  By going to iFit.com and defining your fitness goals, iFit Live will download a progressive workout routine. The exercise programs will control the incline and resistance of your elliptical and includes audio coaching.  Your stats are feedback to your iFit.com account so you can track your progress.  And studies have shown that those that track their progress are more likely to achieve their fitness goals.  There is an additional cost for the Wi-Fi module.

Power Incline — Most new ellipticals include a power incline. The advantage is that it gives you a more intense cardio burn as you raise the incline. And it provides the sensation of hiking up a hill, which results in working more lower body muscles.

Front Drive Design — There are three advantages with a front design elliptical trainer.  First, it is more compact.  Second, you can easily mount and dismount.  That is particularly a beneficial for older users.  Finally, with a front drive elliptical the pedals are closer together.  This reduces stress to your hips and your back, and puts your body in a more natural position.

28 Lb. Flywheel — This heavy flywheel contributes to a smooth, fluid elliptical motion, unlike what you find in cheap crosstrainers.

Adjustable Cushioned Pedals — You can adjust the angle of the pedal to reduce heel lift and foot numbness. The pedals also have extra cushioning to further reduce impact to your joints.

Speakers and MP3 Input — The quality of the sound of the NordicTrack E 11.9 elliptical trainer is reasonably good considering the speakers are mounted on the console.  The real advantage is that you have the apex of the sound pointed directly at you.

Warranty — Lifetime frame, 3-Year parts, and 1-Year labor coverage.  Often at this price range you tend to only get 1-year parts coverage.

24 Installed Exercise Programs — The workouts  included in the NordicTrack E 11.9 are designed by professional fitness trainers.  According to  NordicTrack, “These workouts target your glutes, quads, calves and core for faster results! Each workout targets specific muscle groups by changing the incline or decline of your stride.”  In general, having the ability to switch and change workout routines allows you to break up the monotony of exercising in place.

Dual Grip Handlebars — The dual grip handlebars allow you to change up your position, which in turn allows you to workout different muscles in your arms.

Snap Assembly — I have not actually assembled an E 11.9 , but they claim that you can assemble in half the time. I’ve put together a number of ellipticals, and the assembly can be grueling.

Cooling Fan — Having the fan built into the console allows you to direct the breeze at your core, which is the most important part of your body to cool down.

Unit Weight — The NordicTrack E 11.9 comes in at approximately 230 lbs. This is one of the heavier ellipticals at around $999. The extra weight gives you more stability and a more solid feel. Although it can make it a bit awkward to move around.

Our Review — NordicTrack E 11.9 Elliptical Trainer

What makes the NordicTrack E 11.9 appealing are two factors. First, it usually costs $999, which is not a whole lot of money for a decent crosstrainer. Second, the E 11.9 comes with an array of features you will generally not find on a comparably priced elliptical trainer. As I’ve mentioned with other NordicTrack reviews, the company excels at offering the most for the least.

NordicTrack Elliptical Review

The modern era, with its vast array of gadgets and the fact that almost anything and everything is now available at the click of a button, has restricted the leisure exercise of moving about quite a bit. We consume junk food and maintain a poor lifestyle without ever breaking a single bead of sweat in an effort to burn it off. This ill practice has made individuals more vulnerable to various lifestyle disorders that are both life-threatening and lethal.

Regular exercise and movement of the body are the only solutions to escape from these lethal diseases. But here, too, a problem occurs when it comes to the unavailability of spacious surroundings in our home to carry on the workout process. We might go for a run, but it never helps in keeping our bodies fit in a scientific way. Also, if you want to pay special attention to exercising a particular body part, running or walking may not help. So, here comes the usefulness of fitness equipment.

We use fitness equipment to further consolidate the benefits of any exercise by offering fixed or adjustable degrees of resistance. Fitness equipment plays a major role in enhancing the experience or result of an exercise regimen too.

Why NordicTrack?

Since nowadays, people are more inclined to fitness equipment-based exercises, many companies have started manufacturing them to gain a huge amount of profit. However, very few of them are actually beneficial to delivering a fruitful result. If we end up using faulty gym equipment, there can be numerous unhealthy consequences. We may suffer from an ankle injury, head and neck injuries, knee or hand injuries, etc. So, it is important to go with a trustworthy manufacturer when it comes to purchasing fitness equipment.

NordicTrack, being the largest exercise equipment manufacturer, has been able to gain global customer support and trust. Icon Fitness manages and operates NordicTrack since it is a part of them. The company’s business record says that it has been able to close over a billion sales worldwide. So, who can we trust more than NordicTrack with fitness equipment?

Reasons to Consider NordicTrack Ellipticals

NordicTrack manufactures one of the best elliptical trainers in the world. An elliptical trainer, also known as a cross-trainer, is a piece of stationary workout equipment. This fitness equipment possesses multidimensional uses, including climbing, strolling, jogging, etc. If we perform these activities without using any elliptical machine, there are chances of getting impact injuries due to joint strain. However, an elliptical reduces the chances of getting injuries. People with certain ailments can use an elliptical to keep in shape because of the minimal impact.

The NordicTrack elliptical not only ensures the best quality but also issues top-notch warranty facilities. The customer service provided by NordicTrack is also unquestionably well-driven. If a customer faces any issue with a NordicTrack elliptical, they can call customer service to receive prompt action. This is the same parent company that manufactures ProForm ellipticals. Hence, we can come across comparable models between these two companies.

NordicTrack ellipticals have controlled the $800-$3,000 pricing range in the past few years. NordicTrack has been able to hit such a huge milestone by providing innovative and long-lasting items at a reasonable price. We have visited their outlets and facilities in Logan, Utah, multiple times to evaluate and assess their latest models and speak with the folks who produce them. This is what we’ve discovered:

The Perks of NordicTrack Ellipticals

Reasonable Prices

Any product needs to be priced economically so that a large base of customers can get access to it. It also helps in better sales for the company. When it comes to fitness equipment, things are generally highly-priced. However, NordicTrack ensures better gym equipment at a very economical price as compared to its competitor companies. This strategy has also enabled Icon to sell 4 million pieces of workout equipment in the preceding year.

Speakers with Auxiliary Input

Most ellipticals include speakers, although the sound quality is not satisfactory. NordicTrack’s equipment comes with some of the highest-quality speakers and top-notch sound systems available.

Customizable Foot Pedals

NordicTrack Ellipticals let users modify the angle of foot pedals as per their convenience. This feature is one of the top requisites to carry on an ergonomic exercise practice. This helps to minimize the strain and stress exerted on the feet and ankles. It plays a major role in reducing the chance of leg injury.

Top-Notch Quality Control

Looking back over the years, it is clear that the company has been constantly improving the quality of their products. This aspect has made a significant contribution to the overall transformation of the product lines. This company not only offers the best quality materials but also ensures generous warranties. The products are long-lasting, cost-effective, and require minimal maintenance.

Reliable Customer Service

The past records specify that there were multiple complaints against the NordicTrack customer service. The complaints mainly focus on the unresponsive customer service provided by the company customer service. The first time we paid our first visit to their corporate offices in 2007, we grabbed the opportunity to meet the service head of their customer service department, Dan Jones. He informed us that the company was planning to allocate millions of dollars to improve the service offered by the customer care department.

The company has kept its promise. Since then, the number of service difficulties has decreased considerably. We have been quite amazed by their enhanced level of customer service since 2016.

Smart HD Touchscreen

Several NordicTrack models come with a 7′′–10′′ full HD touchscreen. It provides users with complete access and visibility to all of iFit’s interactive features. These features help to smooth out the functionalities of the products by different means. It is vital to provide user-friendly features to help the customer understand the product better. The full HD touchscreen incredibly helps in building that seamless experience.

iFit Technology Innovation

It is important for a company to invest in research and development to improve their product quality according to people’s demands. When customers use a product, there is always positive and negative feedback. So, gathering that data and analyzing it helps in building the next products in a more practical way to solve the existing issues. NordicTrack is a company that spends and invests a lot in research and development.

This leads to many fruitful results. iFit technology is one such innovation that has resulted in developing many newer features for fitness equipment. It is a motivating tool that connects your elliptical trainer to the Internet. There are several intriguing features. But the following few require special mention.

Exercise Anywhere In The Globe With Google Maps

When we exercise, we not only focus on improving our physical strength but also try to improve our mental health. The current busy lifestyle does not let us grab the time to exercise in outer space. However, it is possible to invite outer space into our interior workout area with the NordicTrack-built iFit technology. This technology is well-suited to allow us to work out almost anywhere on the planet.

iFit technology is designed to trace a path on the computer using Google maps. The resistance and strength on the elliptical will replicate the terrain or landscape. So, despite being at home, we will experience the beauty of working out in the lap of nature with the help of this technology.

If we want to see how our exercise is progressing, we can use Google Maps’ street, satellite, or earth view features. This would require us to use a laptop or a smartphone. Android users would get to use a variety of models. This would allow the user to get access to Google Maps right on the dashboard.

HD Videos

To improve our exercise routine, we need a motivating factor. HD videos offer tempting scenery around the world to help you get into a vigorous workout routine. The video’s speed is determined by how quickly you move. Your elliptical machine’s incline/decline or height is automatically adjustable.

Personalized Workout Plans

Many of us find exercising difficult because we struggle to create a perfect workout routine based on our goals. However, the iFit technology puts an end to this hustle! This technology enables us to establish a personalized account and set fitness objectives. Suppose, a customer has a goal of losing 10 pounds in three months.

He or she needs to create a personal account on iFit.com, stating the goal and adding related information. iFit Live will generate a tailored exercise program to help the customer accomplish his or her target based on the input. We generally tend to start our exercise vigorously and end up feeling tired. So, we can not stick to the routine for a very long time. However, the tailored program set by iFit technology starts with minimal exercises and gradually increases the intensity to help you cope with the workout routine.

Jillian Michaels created some of the top-notch routines. The software appointed by the iFit technology controls the elliptical trainer’s resistance and slopes. This feature also includes a voice coaching facility for elevating exercise motivation. The best part of this technology involves reflecting the users’ achievements statistics on the iFit.com account. So, it is way easier to keep track of the progress to achieve the fitness goal. If someone is lagging behind, they can revise their workout routine using the statistics. Also, if someone makes it possible to maintain the desirable statistics, this can be a big motivating factor for them.

Note: This functionality is available at an extra fee. If the equipment lacks Smart HD Touchscreen, you will need to employ a laptop or smartphone to receive an engaging full color display. Many NordicTrack Ellipticals now come with a 30-day free trial to iFit.

FreeStride Trainers

FS10i bodyIf our goal is to exercise vigorously while concentrating on the lower body muscles, this feature should be one of the top priorities. NordicTrack has launched the FreeStride trainer that serves this purpose in a way more productive way than any other piece of equipment. The FreeStride Trainer has a configurable stride length of 32 inches. We can even use a stair stepper, an elliptical, or a treadmill to hype up the workout.

The special design lets us enjoy strenuous exercise while focusing on the lower body muscles. We get to see this fitness equipment in different gyms and clubs. However, NordicTrack now offers them for home exercise purposes too. Starting at $2,499, these trainers are among NordicTrack’s best-selling models. NordicTrack Brand Reviews can also enlighten us on that fact.

What is the Best Elliptical for Under $1000?

          e25_2016

Sole E25 Elliptical – Most durable and reliable option here.

One of my readers asked by opinion on buying either the Sole E25, NordicTrack SE7i or the NordicTrack E11.7 elliptical trainer.  These are all good choices for around $1,000.  Here is the dialogue…

          Hello Fred,

My name is Scott and I am about to purchase an Elliptical for my home (would like to make a decision ASAP).  I have done quite a bit of research and have narrowed it down to 3 possible machines…the Sole E25 and the Nordictrack SE7i….and possibly the Nordictrack E11.7.

All 3 are in the same price range.  I have to admit…I have not exercised in a while and I am looking forward to working out again…this machine is not just for me…but my wife and family.  I am now lost…not sure what direction to go…can you please help me with my decision!

I do not want to go with the Sole E35 (although I would like to)…it just ends up being a good bit more than I would like cost wise.  I have a bad back and bad knees from playing soccer until I was 49 and this type of low impact workout seems perfect for me.

Please let me know your thoughts and advice.

          Thank you,

          Scott

suffering from knee painOuch! If you suffer from bad knees, joint pain in the knee, knee arthritis, runners knee, or have a knee replacement, doing cardio can seem like an impossible task.

Many of us head to the gym with knee injuries or pains, and are confused looking at the rows of cardio machines…

We want to get in a good workout, but don’t want to worsen any injury or pain in our knees.

Why Are Ellipticals Better for Knees Instead of Treadmills?

Both treadmill and elliptical workouts will help you burn calories, get a good sweat in, and enhance your cardiovascular health – but after this point, both become two completely different machines. A major difference between ellipticals and treadmills is how these machines can take care of your body, especially your knees.

If you’re wondering if an elliptical is ok for your bad knees, studies show that elliptical training programs can reduce pain and improve knee function. We strongly recommend choosing ellipticals over treadmills for your workout regimen if you are recovering from a knee injury, or if you have joint pain in your knees.

Here are a few quick general reasons why ellipticals outshine treadmills for those with knee injuries:  Continue reading

The Complete Guide to Lubricating Your Elliptical Machine

Elliptical machines are widely popular for low-impact cardio exercise. The design of ellipticals deliver minimal joint impact, decreasing the chance of injury. So, people with knee or joint injuries can easily exercise on ellipticals without pain or aggravating any injury.

NordicTrack Elliptical ReviewA good elliptical is a huge investment. Ellipticals require good care to run well for a long period of time. Lubricating your elliptical is a big requirement in making sure that your elliptical is well maintained and will last for years and years.

Elliptical lubricant helps to reduce the natural wear and tear that happens to ellipticals from frequent use. The process of lubrication plays a major role in boosting the longevity of an elliptical. It also aids in retaining the functionality of the machine, making it smooth and effective. If elliptical lubricant is regularly used to keep an elliptical machine functional, you can avoid costly repair expenses. Since lubrication reduces friction, it helps to lessen noise and vibrations produced by the machine.

Greasing your elliptical can seem like an overwhelming task. You just spent a lot of money on an elliptical machine, and you don’t want to mess it up. We get it – that’s why we created this guide to make it simple and pain free.

In this article, we are going to discuss elliptical grease (lubricant) and how and when to use it.

The BowFlex Max Trainer M6 is a new machine from an already wildly-popular company.  We recently spoke with Bowflex designers and they explained to us how they are working to offer their customers more options.

The Max Trainer M6 allows you to get a solid workout in, even if you only have a few minutes. The Max Trainers are different than traditional ellipticals, because these machines combine the paths of an elliptical and a stair stepper. The result from this combination of motion is a low-impact, high-intensity exercise.

A study conducted back in 2013 showed that the unique design of Bowflex Max Trainers provides more muscle activation of the whole body than a standard elliptical. This means that while you’re using a Max Trainer by Bowflex, you’ll be getting a full body burn. This more muscles that you are able to activate, the more calories you’ll burn in a short amount of time. It’s a win win, you get stronger AND burn more calories.

Fathers Day Sale! The Max Trainer M6 is currently discounted to $1,299 ($200 off). Shop Now at Bowflex.com Compare Pricing at Dicks Sporting Goods

          BowFlex Max Trainer M6 Features

16 Levels of Resistance – Not only will you be targeting every muscle in your body while you’re working out on a Bowflex Max Trainer, but the M6 allows for 16 levels of resistance to push yourself during your exercise.

LCD Monitor – This is definitely not a fancy HD touchscreen by any means. The blue-lit display monitor will show your workout stats.

Burn Rate Console – Watch your calorie burn ramp on this meter-like display.  We like how clear and colorful the display is.  It’s not as impressive as a full Color Touchscreen from some other brands, but the overall quality of the Bowflex machines makes up for it.

Compatible with Bowflex JRNY  – This is a newer feature for Bowflex fitness equipment. Previously, only NordicTrack and ProForm offered an interactive fitness technology on their machines. Now, you can get an immersive fitness experience with the Bowflex JRNY app. Work with personal trainers on-demand classes, community accountability and tracking, streaming access to your favorite services, and reach your goals at a faster rate. *Note: At the time of this review, the M6 includes a 1-year membership to JRNY.

Other Features – USB charging port, media rack for tablet/smartphone, multi-grip dynamic handles, integrated contact grips for heart rate monitoring.

Warranty – This is one area where we feel Bowflex still lags a bit behind the competition. The warranty is only 2-years frame and parts, 90 days labor.

Weight and Dimensions – The maximum ceiling height for the Max Trainer will be the height of the tallest user plus 15 inches. The max user weight is 300 lbs., and the dimensions are 46″ L x 26″ W x 64.2″ H.

Our Review –  Max Trainer M6

The Max Trainer M6 is a solid machine from a great company.  We’re not really sure it offers a high level of innovation. Still, if you’re a fan of the brand, and want a great elliptical, this is a good option to consider.

Sole E20 Elliptical ReviewGREAT DEAL! For a limited time, Sole is offering a FREE 90 day trial membership to their interactive fitness technology Studio with the purchase of any Sole elliptical.

You may have heard of the brand Sole Fitness. Sole has been around for a long time, and their company has certainly earned their stripes over the years in the fitness industry. While other top name brands such as NordicTrack or ProForm are known for their flashy machines, Sole has established a reputation for durability and consistency in their fitness equipment products.

At our last visit to the Sole corporate headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah, we discussed the mission behind their machines. The owners at Sole told our Fitness Equipment Source team that the goal at Sole is to provide consumers with the highest quality fitness equipment. Their company chooses to spend money on the components and engineering of their products, rather than the bells and whistles you may see on other machines on the market.

Sole ellipticals are appealing to a wide array of budgets. Their machines have always ranged from the $999-$2,500 range. With Sole’s newest elliptical launch, they’ve expanded the affordability of their products even more. The brand new E20 elliptical from Sole is priced below $800, which is a new price category for their company. As most of us know, cheaper doesn’t always mean better. So, the real question is, is the new budget-friendly elliptical from Sole worth your money? Let’s jump right in. Continue reading
